I did an interview on ThatChannel.com back in March, it was a great experience. We talked about Knowledge Management, Business-IT Alignment and the consulting work that I do, here is that interview! 🙂
The interview is posted in three parts on YouTube, here are the links:
Part 1:Â https://youtu.be/tWSb5QWIet8
Part 2:Â https://youtu.be/0uI3MSXZE9o
Part 3: Â https://youtu.be/6R4jO4rNaTo
This is an excellent interview. It sums up in plain accessible language what knowledge management and IT/business alignment is all about. Kudos Stephanie Barnes!
Thanks for the clip! Has your view on social media or social computing changed since you’ve done the interview?
To be honest, I don’t remember exactly what I said, although I imagine it was something like “I don’t get it,” which is largely still true. I do think there is a time/place/circumstance where it makes sense, but I don’t see it as the solution to every problem. There are a lot of things to consider in determining a solution to a problem, understanding the business problems and processes and culture of an organization is key. If social media/computing fits then that is great, but at the end of the day technology is an enabler to resolving the problem, people and process can’t be ignored.
I should also say that Social Media/Computing is just one channel/solution to be used in communication and collaboration, there are other tools and technologies available that must also be considered and used where and when appropriate…it’s all about knowing your audience.
Great interivew. Clear discussion of KM concepts, process and its utility to an organization. Very well done!
